Established in line with the decision of our University Senate dated 15.12.2022 and numbered 2022/135, the "Turkish-German University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center" was officially founded with the "Regulation on the Turkish-German University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center" published in the Official Gazette dated 18.02.2023 and numbered 32108, and has been continuing its activities as of 2023.
Within the center, four units have been structured to coordinate the development of university-industry collaborations, the management of intellectual and industrial property processes, the operation of project support mechanisms, and entrepreneurship and incubation activities: University-Industry Collaboration Unit, Intellectual and Industrial Property and Contracts Unit, Project Support Unit, and Entrepreneurship and Incubation Unit.
The mission of the Turkish-German University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center is to transform the knowledge and technology produced at the university into new, competitive, and value-added products, services, or processes; and to ensure the protection, commercialization, and transfer to the industry of university-originated inventions and intellectual property. Furthermore, it aims to develop university-originated entrepreneurship activities, increase the quantity and quality of research and development activities resulting from the cooperation between the University and public institutions and private sector organizations, and ensure that research and development projects conducted at the University benefit more effectively from non-university financial support programs.
The TGU Technology Transfer Application and Research Center coordinates technology transfer activities conducted at the university with a holistic approach and aims to develop institutional capacity in this field. In this context, it fosters collaboration with public institutions and private sector organizations in line with the expertise of faculty members, mediates the creation of university-industry collaboration projects, and provides support for contract processes related to these projects. The center supports state-supported projects and research consortia conducted within the scope of university-industry collaboration; additionally, studies and incubation activities aimed at university-industry collaboration are encouraged.
The center provides support throughout all processes from patent, utility model, and design applications to registration and commercialization. Furthermore, access to the entrepreneurship ecosystem is facilitated for students and academic and administrative staff, company incorporation processes are prepared, and company formation is encouraged. The center organizes events in line with its objectives and continues its activities to represent the University in national and international platforms.
