TURKISH-GERMAN UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER APPLICATION AND RESEARCH CENTER
(TTC)


 

Established in accordance with the decision of our University Senate dated 15.12.2022 and numbered 2022/135, the “Turkish-German University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center” was officially founded with the “Turkish-German University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center Regulation” published in the Official Gazette dated 18.02.2023 and numbered 32108, and has been continuing its activities as of 2023. Four units have been structured within the Center to develop university-industry collaborations, manage intellectual and industrial property rights processes, operate project support mechanisms, and coordinate entrepreneurship and incubation activities: the University-Industry Collaboration Unit, the Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights and Contracts Unit, the Project Support Unit, and the Entrepreneurship and Incubation Unit.



Objectives of the Center

The objective of the Turkish-German University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center is to facilitate the transformation of knowledge and technology generated within the university into innovative, competitive, and value-added products, services, or processes; to ensure the protection, commercialization, and transfer of university-originated inventions and intellectual property to the industry; to foster the development of university-based entrepreneurship activities; to enhance the quantity and quality of research and development activities through collaboration between the university, public institutions, and private sector organizations; and to ensure that R&D projects conducted at the university benefit more extensively and effectively from external funding and support programs.
 


Fields of Activity of the Center

The Turkish-German University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center coordinates the technology transfer activities conducted within the University with a holistic approach and aims to develop institutional capacity in this field. Within this scope, in addition to the effective execution of technology transfer processes, it organizes promotional and training activities to raise awareness within the university; and conducts collaborative works with other technology transfer centers, technoparks, and technocities by participating in national and international cooperation networks.
TAU Technology Transfer Application and Research Center develops collaborations with public institutions and private sector organizations in line with the expertise of faculty members, mediates the creation of university-industry cooperation projects, and provides support in the contracting processes of these projects. The Center supports formal and informal research collaborations, contract research, knowledge transfer, and training projects, as well as government-funded projects and research consortia conducted within the scope of university-industry cooperation. Furthermore, it encourages university-industry partnership efforts and incubation activities, while facilitating cooperation, partnership, service, and consultancy agreements on behalf of the University in line with the Center's objectives.
In line with the Center's fields of activity, information dissemination efforts regarding financial support programs are conducted, and guidance is provided to academic staff during the application, partner matching, and project management processes. Collaborations with industry for research conducted at undergraduate and graduate levels are encouraged. By raising awareness of intellectual and industrial property rights, support is provided throughout all processes, from patent, utility model, and design applications to registration and commercialization stages. Additionally, the access of students, as well as academic and administrative staff, to the entrepreneurship ecosystem is facilitated, and they are encouraged to prepare for incorporation processes and establish companies. The Center organizes events in accordance with its objectives and continues its activities to represent the University on national and international platforms.
