New Steps in University-Industry Collaboration: A Visit to REPKON MACHINE and MOULD INDUSTRY INC.

The management and academics of the Turkish-German University Technology Transfer Application and Research Center (TTM) carried out a visit to REPKON MACHINE and MOULD INDUSTRY INC., one of the leading organizations in the defense and aerospace industry, within the scope of the university-industry collaboration vision. The visit was attended by our Vice Rector and TTM Board Member Prof. Dr. Yunus Ziya Arslan, our Board Member Prof. Dr. Müge Klein, our TTM Unit Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Karaismailoğlu Elibol, University-Industry Collaboration Coordinator Res. Asst. Kadir Sağır, and our TAU academics.

During the meeting, following our presentation introducing TAU’s academic and R&D potential, REPKON officials shared their presentations conveying the company's units and technological capacity. After these mutual introductions, productive discussions were held on cooperation opportunities and joint fields of work between the two institutions. In the meeting, where advanced technology solutions specifically for metal forming and the defense industry were discussed, the contribution of the university-industry partnership to domestic production was emphasized.

Following the meeting, our delegation examined REPKON’s modern production facilities on-site and received information about technological production processes. In the continuation of the program, the Şile Ayet Azer Aran Defense Industry Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, which trains qualified human resources for the defense industry, was visited. With this visit, where the school's educational infrastructure and REPKON’s support for education were observed on-site, the importance of collaboration not only in R&D but also in the dimension of education was highlighted.
